Omair Bin Yousuf during first four-dayer against Zimbabwe A - PCB

Right-handed opening batter Omair Bin Yousuf smashed his maiden first-class double hundred while representing Pakistan Shaheens during the ongoing first four-dayer against Zimbabwe A.

Resuming at the overnight score of 352-2, Shaheens got their in-form batter Yousuf in fine rhythm.

Omair, who returned unbeaten on 161 runs on the first day, managed to add 89 runs to his overnight score. He brought up his maiden double hundred off 342 balls including 27 boundaries and a maximum.

The right-handed batter was on song as he helped Shaheens post mammoth 521-3 after which they declared their first innings.

International-capped Hussain Talat remained not out for 51 runs and his contribution was worthy for the Shaheens.

For Zimbabwe A, Victor Nyauchi, Faraz Akram and Tanaka Chivanga bagged a wicket each.

In reply, Zimbabwe A lost four wickets for paltry 112 runs. After the job was done by the batters, Shaheens' bowlers took responsibility and bowled brilliantly to get control of the hosts until stumps on day 2.

Shahnawaz Dahani's brilliant throw in the third over got opener Joylord Gumbie run out. Dion Myers resisted a bit but Mehran Mumtaz took two scalps in quick succession to bring Shaheens back on track. Myers scored 56 off 92 balls whereas Tanunurwa Makoni got out after scoring 21.

Skipper Roy Kaia (12*) and Faraz Akram (1*) will resume the game for the hosts tomorrow.

Mehran finished day 2 with a prominent spell of 32 for two.
